Light of Marshall McLuhan: A Reappraisal for the 
1990s.” Discussion of the sources upon which 
McLuhan drew is omitted from this essay, notably 
the work of fellow Canadian Harold Innis. The two 
men can be viewed as founding figures in a 
Canadian communications history tradition.
